Meet the departments that make up this extraordinary Agency
Berkshire County Arc services over 140 individuals with disabilities in a variety of residential settings. Residential Program options include community residences, staffed apartments, cooperative apartments, supported living and home ownership. This program includes but is not limited to: communication, choice & decision making, community integration, domestic skills training, hazard awareness, personal hygiene & health maintenance, human sexuality, behavior management, money management, relationship-building, recreation & leisure and estate planning.
Berkshire County Arc works under contract with the Statewide Head Injury Program to provide 24-hour residential services for individuals who have traumatic brain injury. These programs provide support services to help individuals relearn skills that allow them to continue to live in their own communities. Areas of development include neurobehavioral and neurocognitive management, independent living, leisure, recreation and community integrations, vocational and social/family skills
Advantage Employee Network (AEN) provides supported employment to individuals with disabilities to obtain and maintain employment in Berkshire County. AEN provides comprehensive vocational services that include evaluations, career planning, job search and placement, on-the-job training and follow-up.
Since 2009, BCArc’s Adult Family Care program has helped more than 120 qualified individuals receive quality supports and services in their own
homes or their caregivers.
Some of these services include:
- Determining eligibility and level of care
- Providing non-taxable monthly stipend to caregivers
- Providing nursing education and oversight
- Providing case management and support services
- Facilitating connections with other community organizations and service providers
- Assisting with future planning
- Providing family support and advocacy
Berkshire County Arc’s Advocacy and Family Support services are designed to support children and adults living in the community with their families.
We support them through:
- Educational events and trainings on relevant topics of interest across the lifespan for families.
- Spring Break Camp and other recreational events for families throughout the year.
Zip ‘N Sort Mail Services, the largest mail service business in the Berkshires, maintains an integrated work setting for employees, with and without disabilities. Employees use state-of -the art, automated equipment to satisfy its customer base of nearly 400 local, national and international companies. Customers include banks, colleges, insurance companies, printers and non-profit agencies. Zip ‘N Sort Mail Services helps its customers control their mailing costs, giving them a competitive edge. At the same time Zip ‘N Sort Mail Services opens the door for people with disabilities to have a career in the mail industry.

At Berkshire County ARC (BCArc) several departments make up Administrative Services. All of these departments work together to support the Programs and Staff that support, care and advocate for individuals with disabilities. The goal is to facilitate the processes, procedures, and systems in order to help BCArc run smoothly and efficiently. These departments are:
HR-Ensures that BCArc hires and retains the best staff available. Accomplishes this by maintaining compliance with all laws and regulations that protect both employees and applicants, as well as providing terrific benefits including wellness programs for all eligible staff.
Finance-Ensures that every aspect of BCArc and its staff are paid accurately and on time. Makes sure all technology needs are met for the Agency as well.
Quality-Ensures that BCArc is in compliance with all regulatory agencies.
Marketing/Development-Ensures that both the public and employees know about new initiatives, fundraisers, community events, staff appreciation events and so much more. Develops all marketing materials as well as maintains website and social media presence.
Training-Provides training materials, classes, maintains online training academy, required certifications, and various other training modules to help both new and existing staff be the best they can be.
The aim of Day Habilitation Programs is to increase an individual’s independence and ability to assume adult social roles through developmental skills training and clinical supports.
Berkshire County Arc operates three Day Habilitation programs. Our programs are located in Dalton, Pittsfield and Lee, Massachusetts. We support more than 150 individuals at the three locations.
Work to ensure appropriate treatment is provided by assessing, planning and monitoring the health needs for individuals with disabilities. Responsibilities will include the monitoring of medication, training of MAP to Staff, documenting Medical/Nursing progress, providing emergency medical intervention and acting as liaison between individuals and their physicians.
Our Clinical Services department implements and monitors behavior intervention plans that include comprehensive functional assessments, data collection and analysis, conduct program observations, collaborate on behavioral and psychiatric medicine treatment plans and conduct in-service training to ensure integrity of behavioral plans and other behavioral intervention strategies. In this department you will have the opportunity to be supervised under a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) if you chose to pursue further credentialing in behavior analysis. You will collaborate with other professionals in the field and also be offered professional development opportunities.
Autism Outreach Services
Berkshire County Arc’s Autism Outreach Services (AOS) Program offers insurance reimbursed in-home services for children and adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The AOS Program utilizes the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in the delivery of services. Staff are provided with the 40 hour registered behavior technician training and will then be eligible to sit for the national Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) exam offered through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. They will also receive ongoing supervision under a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and will be required to maintain their Registered Behavior Technician certification.
